Elizabeth Gebremariam, MD

Biography
Dr. Elizabeth Gebremariam is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and DMV native. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology at Princeton University. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and returned home to complete her Family Medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.
Dr. Gebremariam believes excellent primary care is built on trust, communication, and understanding each patient as an individual with a full life outside of the doctor’s office. She sees her role as helping patients understand their options and make decisions that allow them to meet their goals. She takes a comprehensive approach that incorporates preventive care, chronic disease management, lifestyle counseling, care coordination, and empathy. She provides primary care across the lifespan, with particular interests in cardiovascular health, women’s health, menopause, preventive medicine, and mental health.
Dr. Gebremariam is particularly passionate about supporting patients as they age and helping them maintain their health, independence, and quality of life. Her approach is grounded in partnership, encouraging patients to ask questions, share what matters to them, and actively participate in their care. “I want my patients to feel heard and understood, while knowing that I will take the time to thoughtfully consider the whole picture and help them make informed decisions.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Gebremariam enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring DC one restaurant and cuisine at a time, attending live music and performances, and being happily outnumbered at home by her cats, Tom and Jerry.
